Seethakka Launches Telangana Handicapped Job Portal, Promises Increased Reservations and Support for Differently-Abled
Hyderabad: 15 Oct (Patriotic Views Desk) In a significant move, Panchayat Raj Minister Dhanasri Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, inaugurated the Telangana Handicapped Job Portal on Monday. This portal aims to assist differently-abled individuals in securing employment opportunities. The launch event, held at the Secretariat, also witnessed Seethakka distributing appointment orders to ten individuals in the Women Welfare Department.
Highlighting the challenges faced by differently-abled people in the job market, Seethakka pointed out that these individuals often have fewer opportunities and face greater competition compared to others. She emphasized, “Disability is beyond anyone’s control, and in some cases, it can be the result of a lack of nutritious food.” To bridge this gap, the government has introduced this portal, which will allow differently-abled persons to register online and find jobs according to their qualifications.
Seethakka also urged private employers to reserve positions for differently-abled individuals, noting that the Telangana government has already made strides in this area by increasing reservations from one per cent to four per cent in private employment. The portal is part of the government’s broader efforts to provide equal opportunities, with five per cent of welfare funds being allocated to support differently-abled persons.
In addition to job opportunities, the government is also extending reservations for differently-abled persons in welfare schemes such as Indiramma Housing. A budget of Rs 50 crore has been earmarked this year for the welfare of disabled individuals, with the Minister directing officials to expedite recruitment for backlog posts. Seethakka concluded by assuring that the government will also provide support for the self-employment of differently-abled persons.
