The Congress party released its comprehensive manifesto, titled ‘Haath Badlega Halaat,’ ahead of the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, pledging extensive welfare measures for farmers, women, youth, and employees. The manifesto was unveiled in the presence of senior leaders, including former Chief Ministers Bhupinder Hooda and Ashok Gehlot, and Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan.
Key promises include free medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakh, Rs 2,000 monthly assistance for women, and efforts to secure water from the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. The party has also vowed to provide a government job to the family of each of the 700-plus farmers who died during the protests against the repealed farm laws and to implement the old pension scheme, similar to its policy in Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced seven guarantees, including affordable gas cylinders at Rs 500, 300 units of free electricity per household, and Rs 25 lakh health insurance for every individual. Additional commitments include a legal guarantee for MSP, a caste census, and increasing the income limit for the creamy layer of OBCs from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
The manifesto emphasizes youth employment, with plans to fill two lakh vacant government positions, and housing support, promising 100-square-yard plots and Rs 3.5 lakh for poor families to build homes. Elections for the 90-member Assembly are scheduled for October 5, with results to be announced on October 8.
