Telangana Deputy CM Announces Rs 5,000 Crore Investment for New Schools
Hyderabad, Oct 6 (PViews Desk) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has announced the construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools (YIIRS) across the state. The project, with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore, aims to provide quality education to students from all backgrounds.
Foundation Laid Before Dussehra
The foundation stone for these schools will be laid just before the Dussehra festival. Speaking at the Secretariat on Sunday, the Deputy CM described this initiative as a historic step for Telangana. Each school will be built on 20-25 acres of land, with modern infrastructure and top-notch educational facilities.
Focus on Quality Education
“We are focused on improving education so that Telangana’s students can compete globally,” the Deputy CM said. The new schools will offer classes up to the 12th grade and will follow international standards. Currently, many of the state’s residential schools operate in rented spaces like marriage halls, creating challenges for students and staff.
The government is especially committed to supporting students from economically weaker sections, starting from primary education. One residential school will be set up in each constituency, covering 20-25 acres of land.
Progress and Plans
So far, land has been identified in 25 constituencies, and details are being finalized for the remaining areas. A groundbreaking ceremony, or Bhoomi Puja, will be held statewide on the eve of Dussehra to officially start construction.
The Deputy CM praised the hard work of the cabinet, Chief Secretary, and other officials who worked together over the past three months to make this project possible.
Upgrading Existing Schools
Currently, Telangana has 1,023 residential schools, with 662 operating from rented spaces. The government plans to spend Rs 5,000 crore this year on building new schools— a significant increase compared to the Rs 73 crore spent by the previous administration in a single year.
Modern, Eco-Friendly Facilities
The new school buildings will be designed with international standards, incorporating green energy solutions and creating a strong sense of community for students from various backgrounds. The designs will also consider local climate conditions like temperature and weather patterns in each area.
Balanced Learning Environment
In addition to academics, the schools will provide sports and recreational facilities to ensure a balanced learning environment. “We want to move away from an education system that puts too much pressure on students,” said the Deputy CM. The schools will also have theatres to screen educational films via satellite.
Call to Parents
The Deputy CM urged parents from disadvantaged communities to enroll their children in these schools, assuring them that a public campaign would be launched to raise awareness about the opportunities provided by this initiative.
