
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Meets Union Minister, Seeks Support for Hyderabad Sewerage and Metro Projects
Hyderabad: (P.views Desk) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met with Union Minister for Urban Development and Housing, Manohar Lal Khattar, in New Delhi on Monday. During the meeting, CM Reddy requested that the Hyderabad Comprehensive Sewerage Master Plan (CSMP) be included under the Amrit 2.0 scheme or approved as a separate project.

- Need for Modern Sewage System in Hyderabad
CM Revanth Reddy emphasized the urgent need for an upgraded sewage treatment system in Hyderabad. He pointed out that the current infrastructure is outdated and cannot meet the growing demands of the city’s population. Several neighboring municipalities also lack adequate sewerage systems.- Goal: Ensure 100% treatment of liquid waste in Hyderabad and surrounding areas to transform the city into a world-class urban center.
- Hyderabad Comprehensive Sewerage Master Plan (CSMP)
The Chief Minister presented a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the CSMP, covering 7,444 kilometers across Hyderabad and 27 nearby municipalities. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 17,212.69 crore.- Request: CM Reddy asked for financial assistance from the central government to either include the project in Amrit 2.0 or approve it as a separate initiative.
- Environmental Concerns – Moosi River Pollution
CM Reddy also addressed the issue of untreated sewage flowing into the Moosi River. He submitted another DPR worth Rs 4,000 crore for building trunk sewer mains, large box drains, and new sewage treatment plants to prevent further pollution of the river.- Request: He sought the central government’s approval and assistance to move forward with these important environmental projects.
- Hyderabad Metro Rail Expansion
The Chief Minister proposed expanding the Hyderabad Metro Rail with several new corridors, totaling 76.4 kilometers. The estimated cost of the expansion is Rs 24,269 crore.- Proposed Corridors:

- Rayadurgam to Kokapet Neopolis (11.6 km)

- Request: CM Reddy proposed a 50:50 cost-sharing joint venture between the central and state governments and asked for the Union Minister’s support in funding the project.
